Do You Believe in Social Networks for Researchers?
< 05/29/2010 - by Staff PRESANS >
There has been tens, if not hundreds, of attempts to launch social networks for scientists and for researchers over the last 3 years. The new “Linkedin for Researchers” or “Facebook for Scientists”:www.collab.com, www.academia.edu, www.academiaconnect.org,biomedexperts.com etc. Even the Fondation Pierre Gilles de Gennes recently launched its social network for scientists.
Although a few of them provide real incentives for researchers (http://www.labmeeting.com etc.), although some of them provide really useful tools for scientists (http://www.mendeley.com etc.), most of them, however, fail or will fail.

I totally believe in social
I totally believe in social network for researchers. It can help them a lot in their work. And that's a great news that the new social network has been launched for the scientists. I think there should be networking sites for other small jobs too like garment industries, carpet cleaning companies etc so that they can share all the informations about their new product through it.
